Migrant families arrive in New California.

1986

Beginning of meetings for the establishment of the Pioneers’ association and Line 05 association, the foundations of the current RECA association.

1987

First contact with Dom Moacir Grecchi regarding funding for the RECA Project.

1989

February 18th: establishment of the Reca Project’s Small Agroforestry Producers Association to carry out the reforestation project supported by CEBEMO.

Between 1989 and 1991

Implementation of 406 hectares of agroforestry systems, and organization of 80 participating families. Project supported by CEBEMO, from the Netherlands.

Between 1990 and 1992

Acquisition of the first plot of land, construction of the RECA Project Headquarters, and support by the PMACI project for SAF’s implementation and purchasing a truck.

1993 and 1994

Implementation of over 400 hectares of SAF with the support of CEBEMO and 200 hectares with the support of PMACI.

2001

Jean Pierre Mingam, Reca Project’s first general manager, passed away. Start of business with Natura: cupuaçu butter, nut oil, and pulps.

2002

Recovery of degraded areas through SAF’s with Leguminosae and recovery of pastures, financing by PREAL.

Start of MLAL financed project to train monitors for the creation of a future Agricultural Family School in Nova California to train rural youth.

2002

RECA receives the Chico Mendes award, instituted by the Ministry of the Environment, in the ‘Sustainable Businesses’ category (second place).

2004

Award – 1st place: People who do things, Innovation in development Award.

2005

Beginning of the Participatory Certification process in the Amazon-ACS.

Implementation of the Caminhar / PDA Project (2005 to 2007), promotion of exchanges, promotional materials, and construction of Reca’s retail center.

Award – 2nd place: Samuel Benchimol Award, environmental area.

2006

Imaflora Organic Certification issued.

Produzir / Petrobras Project (2006 to 2008), incentive to SAFs, fish farming, beekeeping, and aviculture.

Award – 2nd place: Chico Mendes Award, Community organization.

2007

Award – 1st place: Ford Award, Conservation Businesses.

Award – 4th place: ECLAC Award.

2008

IBD (Instituto Biodinâmico) Organic Certification issued.

Award – 1st place: MDG Award on Social Organization by the federal government.

2009

Completion of the Agricultural Family School (EFA), with classes using the Pedagogy of Alternation.

2010

Implementation of the Fontes Novas / Petrobras Project (2011 to 2012), recovery of Permanent Protection Areas of 75 water courses.

2013

REDD Project (Carbon Neutral Program) in partnership with Natura.

2014

Celebration of RECA’s 25th anniversary.

Between 2015 and 2018

Concretizar-Amazon Fund / BNDES Project (implementation of 315 hectares of SAFs, and restructuring of the pulp and oil processing plants). Enabling sustainable production by family farming at Ponta Abunã in the state of Rondonia and at Acrelandia in the state of Acre.

Use and exploitation of agro-industrial residues transformed into organic compost, and establishment of a biofertilizer plant, destined to members’ properties.

2019

Celebration of RECA’s 30th anniversary.

2020

Launch of the new RECA website.

2022

Launch of RECA’s institutional video whose main objective is to publicize our work in the Amazon. It will be exhibited at the largest organic products fair in the world, Biofach 2022, which will be held in Nuremberg, Germany on July 26-29.
